ucp_jeyesparozonecrc_pr1United Closures and Plastics, Norwich has designed a new Angle Neck Bleach (ANB) child resistant closure (CRC) for Thetford based household cleaning products group, Jeyes UK to cap its new Parozone Strongest Bleach, Easy bleach and other bleach/liquid toilet care products. Jeyes Group Ltd became owners of the Easy brand when it acquired Powder and Liquid Products (PLP) of County Durham in 2008.

Designed using the latest Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software to model the physical response of a structure to stress, the new proprietary CRC closure incorporates new patented aperture technology developed by the UCP R & D team, which provides this single walled CRC with the necessary flexibility in the squeeze band to enable the design to meet the requirements of BS EN ISO 8317. The standard has minimum pass criteria of 90% of adults in the age range 50 to 70 years, putting considerable pressure on the design and development of child resistant packaging to suit an older population without sacrificing child resistant performance.

A representative for Jeyes UK stated: “UCP proposed the most robust technical solution to update our previous Angle Neck Bleach CRC using the existing neck finish and plug design. The new closure meets all the commercial, technical and sustainability goals we aimed to achieve in the redesign process.”

The development also meets Global Closure Systems’ corporate sustainability program, Project Cap Green, which aims to reduce the company’s carbon footprint.
