baker-paddle-1279068California Raisin are hosting their California Raisin Future Baker competition during the Baking Industry Exhibition (BIE), taking place at the NEC, Birmingham from Sunday 21st March to Wednesday 24th March 2010, alongside Food & Drink Expo and the other major food industry shows taking place concurrently. You can find California Raisins at BIE on stand L311.

On the California Raisins stand during the Show, teams of three students from five top bakery colleges – Birmingham, Tameside, Leeds, Sheffield and Liverpool – will compete for a winning place on a bakery course at the Richemont School in Switzerland. Judges from the industry will be looking for original recipes, along with good technique, efficiency and presentation. There are four categories – fermented goods, confectionery, savoury and an innovative product.

California Raisin will be welcoming Dominique Homo to their stand on Sunnday 21st March, when he will demonstrate his expertise using California Raisins as a yeast starter and presenting over 10 different artisan recipes.

Dominique grew up in a baking family. As a small child, he watched his grandfather use his wood burning oven and mix dough by hand. He learned to bake at his father’s side, and also went to the baking school in Rouen. He followed in the footsteps of the previous two generations and did what he loved. Dominique was involved in training the first three Bread Bakers Guild USA teams to participate at the Coupe du Monde de la boulangerie. He also assisted in the coaching of the USA’s first Gold Medal Winning team in 1998, and worked as a technical expert at Lesaffre for over 15 years.

Dominique will be on the California Raisin Live Theatre stand on Sunday and Monday during the Baking Industry Exhibition, NEC Birmingham.

Representatives of California Raisins will also be available for visitors to meet and discuss how they can assist you in your business.

California Raisins – enjoy the benefits

California Raisins add a wide range of benefits to products, ranging from baked goods and confectionery to main meals and desserts. Not many ingredients are quite as versatile as the raisin, nor do they offer the consistent quality that the Thompson Seedless variety from California does. Consumers looking for low fat, low salt content will benefit from products containing California Raisins. They contain protein, fibre, calcium, iron and vitamin C, all of which improve the nutritional profile of your product.
