Hormel Foods has announced that its famous brand, SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham, is to be launched in a ready to eat sticks format from September 2011.
SPAM® Sticks are tender strips of SPAM® Chopped Pork and Ham in a crispy breadcrumb coating, which have been developed to appeal to a wider range of consumers, including busy parents and professionals.
The new product will strengthen the brand’s presence in supermarket chiller cabinets, and will be positioned alongside its existing SPAM® Fritters, to offer greater consumer choice and attract both new and lapsed users.
Tasty SPAM® Sticks are perfect for lunchbox, BBQs, sharing with friends or just as a quick snack which can be enjoyed straight from the fridge. They can be oven baked or eaten cold straight from the pack, or frozen for use at a later date.
Nicole Judd, Customer Business Manager for the United Kingdom and European Union, at Hormel Foods Corporation, commented: “We wanted to develop a versatile product that would appeal to a wide audience. Recent research has shown a strong market for busy C1/C2 professionals and SPAM® Sticks offer both a convenient and satisfying option, whether they’re used as part of a main meal or as a snack option.”
Nicole continued: “SPAM® Sticks will be promoted through a variety of different media, from TV advertising and PR, to a strong social media campaign that will include Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.”
SPAM® Sticks will be available in packs of ten, with a weight of 168g per pack, and will be sold in leading UK supermarkets from September 2011. RRP will be £1.79 to £1.99.
