Glorioso launches gluten free Italian specialities

A range of exciting new gluten-free, crumb coated products which are suitable for coeliacs are being launched by Sicilian based Italian company Glorioso at IFE 2015. Gluten-free products are viewed as healthy eating options. All products are frozen and are either pre-cooked or raw, to be re-heated or cooked in an oven or microwave.

Arancini, a traditional Sicilian delicacy, is a memorably tasty Bolognese-style ragout meat sauce with cheese within a gluten-free coating of rice flour. Popular in Italy where they were test marketed by Glorioso as sharing platters and as a new, interesting and different starter, they are in full colour retail packs of two with an alternative pack of four mini Arancinis.

Glorioso snacks are a raw beef and pork product which is similarly encased in the Glorioso coeliac-friendly rice flour crumb coating. They are available in a retail pack of 12 x 240g. and the packaging trays can be used to either microwave or oven heat both products from frozen.

These new snack items have been successfully test marketed in Italy where they are presented as gluten-free starters and as increasingly popular snacks.

The gluten-free crumb coated range comprises of nine retail products – Crumbed Beef Escalopes, Beef and Pork Crumbed Snack Pieces, Arancini and Mini Arancini (both with a meat and cheese sauce), Chicken Fillets with potatoes, Chicken Cordon Blue, Crumbed Rice Escalope with a meat sauce, Chicken Roulade with spinach and cheese and Tender Chicken Crumbed Fillets. All products have been successfully marketed through pharmacies, speciality food shops and hypermarkets in Italy for the past three years.

A range of products, including Mini Arancini and Chicken Roulade with spinach and cheese, are available for foodservice.

The company has appointed David Joseph as its UK commercial manager.

Glorioso commenced its entrepreneurial activity in the agricultural food sector in the 1960s with the production of olive oil, following that with the marketing of red and white meat.

In the 1980s Glorioso expanded its meat production by completing the chain from animal breeding to meat preparation. The company’s mission is to maintain and be recognised for the high quality of its products and for its fast response to changing markets.

With its mission statement always in the forefront of its business development, Glorioso three years ago introduced a range of gluten free coated products targeted at the coeliac market which has increased dramatically in recent years.
