Stunning packaging has been commissioned for three sizes of frozen sushi products from leading Dutch company, Kuriya Food & Snacks.
It has challenged Winsford, Cheshire-based sales agency Nicco Foods to create a new market segment in the UK by building sales of the seven, eight and ten piece packs.
The products are made in a multi-million Euro, state-of-the-art factory in Northern Holland which has BRC accreditation and already serves its home market, plus Germany and Holland, with branded and private label packs.
“This is a huge opportunity for retailers to get sushi into home freezers for future use instead of selling tiny quantities of chilled items for serving on the day of purchase,” said Nicco Foods managing director, David Nickisson.
The microwaveable products can be served fresh within ten minutes of leaving the freezer. The ten piece pack contains Nigiri (rice balls) with salmon, prawns and surimi, plus salmon, surimi and yellow radish Maki (rice in a seaweed wrap).
