Latest MAPET® and high clarity PP trays address demand for increased transparency, protection, hygiene and uniformity in packaging.
Already holding over 60 per cent of the UK ready meal market, Faerch Plast Ltd is now refocusing on the meat and poultry industry with an innovative range of high quality trays and containers. These include packs produced from the revolutionary Mono Amorphous PET (MAPET®) and recently launched High Clarity Polypropylene (PP).
Packs made from these latest cutting edge materials have been specifically developed by Faerch Plast to provide greater transparency, protection, hygiene, brand appeal and uniformity while offering increased environmental benefits. Clever tray design allows more products to be displayed on shelf and occupy less space in storage and transit.
Faerch Plast’s MAPET range has been designed for modified atmosphere (MAP) pre-packed meat to ensure that despite meat juice contamination, a good seal is achieved and maintained from packing to consumer use. A huge amount of development work was done with both lidding films and the top layer of the trays to ensure they seal as well as traditional meat packs with a PE layer.
Born out of the growing consumer trend to assess the quality and integrity of food products prior to purchase, the high clarity PP trays are supremely transparent, lightweight yet robust. As well as space saving benefits, the new PP provides better uniformity to containers, which helps further increase stability during high-speed de-nesting, sealing and packing. They also offer 30 per cent reduction in packaging.
Both MAPET and PP trays are produced from mono materials allowing them to be recycled in the same way as PET bottles.
In line with an on-going commitment to reducing environmental impact, Faerch Plast includes up to 50 per cent Recycled Post Consumer Waste PET (RPET) in all its packaging for the meat and poultry industry.

As well as MAPET and PP, Faerch Plast Ltd offers a range of polystyrene (PS) and APET packaging plus trays with integrated absorbent bases. The special Supporter® Faerch Plast base pattern uses small depressions in the base to prevent fluid moving around and spoiling the appeal of the product, while The Zap® Soaker is an absorbent insert which absorbs juice without drying out the meat / poultry.
The trays and containers can be supplied in a wide range of sizes, shapes and designs. The company’s experienced in-house design team will work with customers to develop the best packaging solutions for their requirements.
