Adande® Refrigeration’s Managing Director, Ian Wood, received the accolade of Environmental Pioneer of the Year at the Cooling Industry Awards held at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London on 25 September. Mr Wood received the award from Terry March, Technical Manager at category sponsor, Emerson Climate Technologies.

PR_Cooling_industry_imgThe judges agreed that Mr Wood epitomised the spirit of the award, which recognises the contribution of individuals towards environmentally sensitive cooling technology. He was deemed to be the technical driving force behind Adande®, redefining a number of fundamental refrigeration tenets. The panel cited the way in which he had challenged conventional wisdom on food service refrigeration, shunning upright fridges and normal drawers in favour fully insulated drawer units, with associated energy saving and temperature control benefits.

Mr Wood was also congratulated for his pioneering role in the retail refrigeration sector, with specific reference to his work in the development of Aircell®, an innovative air flow management system, designed for open front, multi deck display cabinets, which delivers reduced energy consumption, improved temperature stability and customer friendly merchandising. The judges praised Mr Wood’s commitment, tenacity and willpower in bringing to the market concepts which reduce both food wastage and energy consumption.

Adande® Refrigeration’s Chairman, Nigel Bell, commented: “Recognition from his refrigeration industry peers is testament to Ian’s commitment to the ongoing development of innovative and environmentally sensitive technology, for the refrigeration sector, which meets customer needs. We take great pride in the fact that this is the third consecutive year that Adande® has been a winner at the Cooling Industry Awards.”
