Adande’s Managing Director, Ian Wood, was named as the winner of the Environmental Champion (Individual) category at the 2015 National ACR Awards. The presentation was made at a gala dinner held at the Town Hall Birmingham on 29 January.
The judges agreed that Ian Wood’s passion for innovation had been the driving force behind the development of environmentally sensitive cooling technology. For a decade his mission has been the design, development and manufacture of refrigeration equipment, which not only saves energy, but also delivers sustainability. The judging panel added: “Ian has a long history of promoting environmental issues. A deserving winner.”
The award further endorses Ian Wood’s environmental credentials after being voted the Environmental Pioneer of the Year at the RAC Cooling Industry Awards in 2013.
Adande also enjoyed a highly commended second place in the Refrigeration Product of the Year category, at the National ACR Awards, with its patented Aircell air flow management system for open front, refrigerated, multi deck display cabinets. The judging panel stated:
“Adande’s Aircell is simple and effective. The air flow designs made it stand out with its energy savings and long term benefits for the end user.” For good measure, Adande was also short listed as a finalist in the Best Retail Project category for the installation of refrigerated cabinets, incorporating Aircell technology, at Tesco’s Eco store at Lincoln.
Adande’s Chairman, Nigel Bell, commented: “The Environmental Champion award, from Ian’s refrigeration industry peers, is testament to his commitment to innovation, which has resulted in the delivery of energy saving products and technology for the foodservice and food retailing sectors.”
He added: “We are also delighted to receive a highly commended award, for our Aircell technology, in a very strong Refrigeration Product of the Year category. This further recognition for Aircell comes at a time when the technology is moving into full commercialisation.”
