Pastries, pies and cakes are hugely popular take away snacks but require special storage conditions to keep in top condition. Now Williams has expanded its Gem range for the Grab & Go sector with a new Pastry Chiller. The eye-catching merchandiser, model number PC900, provides a practical, safe solution that combines an energy-efficient refrigeration system with a clever layout to maximise every millimetre of retail display space.
Specifically designed to chill and hold cakes, croissants, pies, open sandwiches and similar goods, Williams’ Gem Pastry Chiller has a curved glass front, which is hinged for ease of cleaning. The attractive exterior is matched by the bright interior, with LED lighting and glass shelves. Rear loading doors give staff easy access for restocking and serving.
The combination of effective refrigeration and high performance polyurethane insulation means that the cabinet chills down to temperature quickly, so that the Pastry Chiller always maintains set parameters (usually 5 – 8°C), even in ambients of 25°C.
The unit measures 900mm wide by 780 deep by 1500 high and the display area has a storage capacity of 205 litres (7.2 cubic feet).
In line with Williams’ Greenlogic initiative, the Pastry Chiller is designed to be as sustainable as possible. The heavy duty polyurethane insulation not only minimises temperature loss but also makes the units very strong and robust. The stainless steel body and tempered glass sides, shelves and front add to this durability and make the units easy to clean. The LED lights have guards to protect them and are easily changeable, should one fail. Meanwhile the hot gas defrost system means the unit is only in defrost mode for short periods (typically a few minutes), compared to conventional electrical element defrost systems.
The Gem Pastry Chiller is part of Williams’ range for the Grab & Go sector, which includes a variety of merchandisers, a dedicated sandwich chiller and a choice of back of house refrigeration cabinets.
