Independent Hackney Wick based CRATE Brewery to be stocked in Tesco nationwide

CRATE Brewery, who has been serving handcrafted beers from its canal side, East London brewery since 2012, has secured a nationwide listing for four of its beers at Tesco stores nationwide.

From 9th September, Tesco will stock a selection of CRATE beer including both bottle and can formats in over 1,300 stores across the country. CRATE Lager will be available in 4x 300ml bottles and 6x 330ml can formats, as well as IPA, Pale Ale, Session IPA as individual cans.

Independent Hackney Wick based CRATE Brewery, which sits on the canal opposite the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, was founded by Neil Hinchley, together with New Zealand-born siblings Tom and Jess Seaton. Beginning life as a small microbrewery, tap room and pizza restaurant, it quickly became a hub for craft beer fanatics in East London, and their up-cycled interior became synonymous with the start-up and can-do attitude of the area.

Their distinctive beer went on to be sold at renowned bars and shops and restaurants across the UK including Soho House Group, Ace Hotel, Mothership Group, The Royal Opera House, and Harvey Nichols.

CRATE’s popularity has seen a significant upsurge as part of the on-going craft beer revolution, and with £135 million being spent on craft beers during the 12 months to June, up 47% from the 2016-17 total of £92m, according to Kantar Worldpanel[1], there is hope that this will continue.

Inspired by the creative community in which they live, and created to reflect their passionate links to design and creativity, CRATE brewery’s eye-catching and distinctive packaging has been designed by Dapple Studios, a husband and wife team based in Hackney Wick. The designs reflect where image meets flavour, with each beer represented by an image which emulates the drinking experience.

Neil Hinchley, Director of CRATE Brewery says, “We started CRATE on the simple belief that good beer brings people together, and together people can make great things happen. As a brand we thrive on creativity and inspiration, and we hope this listing will allow us to share this passion with new customers across the country.”

CRATE has been evolving ever since opening in 2012, now not only a brewery, they have a night club (Micks Garage), a cocktail boat (The Alfred Le Roy), and a new restaurant opening soon to entertain visitors at their East London home
