tony-lorman-1Caravan is pleased to announce that Tony Lorman (PepsiCo) has accepted the position of Chairman of the Southern Young Managers Committee and Claire Chapman (Weetabix Ltd) that of Secretary.

Tony Lorman, who has been involved with Caravan since April 2008, said: “I have built a real passion for the charity as it is truly unique in offering help to those who need it most within the grocery industry. Working with Caravan provides me with the opportunity to give something back and it is this passion that led me to become the Chairman for the Caravan Southern Young Managers Committee. My goal is to drive the awareness of Caravan amongst young managers in the grocery industry. This will be done by growing the current 20 strong committee and working with them to develop a program of fundraising events to raise in excess of £50,000 in 2011 whilst publicising the great work of Caravan.”

claire-chapman-v2On accepting the role, Claire commented: “I am very excited to be taking on the role of Secretary within the Southern Young Managers Committee. Our role within the charity is primarily to raise awareness; however over the last couple of years the committee has also raised a massive amount for Caravan which has been fantastic. I am looking forward to helping continue the success and make next year the best one yet!”

The Caravan Young Managers represent the future of our industry and thereby the charity. The main purpose of the group is to provide a non-competitive forum for the under 35s, allowing them to network and build business relationships. However, they do organise several events throughout the year to raise monies for Caravan. There are currently three committees; the Southern Committee based in London, the Northern Committee based in Leeds and the recently formed Scotland Committee based in Edinburgh.
