The purpose of the visit, the first in over 10 years, was to present industry news, updates and information as well as express the RAC’s appreciation to the importers in the region for their continuing loyalty as California Raisins customers. California Raisin exports to the EU account for approximately one third of all worldwide exports by the RAC, and are thus a significant portion of the industry’s overall business.

The RAC delegation shared specific information on recent crop research results, harvest methodology, year to year production and inventory trends, and significant new peer-reviewed health and nutrition research results that impacts consumers with obesity, diabetes and coronary concerns.

Gary Schulz, President of the Raisin Administrative Committee (Federal Marketing Order) and California Raisin Marketing Board (State Marketing Order) said, “the delegation very much enjoyed the meetings in Hamburg and London which helped further strengthen the excellent relationships that the California Raisin industry already has with the EU.”

The business of producing grapes for raisins in California is healthy, with a reliable consistent supply, and excellent quality. The RAC looks forward to many more years of cooperation between California and the European Community.
