Plughole care brand Buster will be hitting our TV screens again this month with the return of a national TV advertising campaign as part of the brand’s creative and diverse PR strategy for 2011.

Manufactured by Challs International, Buster is the only plughole care brand which is segmented to tackle the different needs of kitchen and bathroom plugholes; a message that is clearly reflected in the TV advertising campaign.

The adverts will air throughout February, March and early April during ITV Daybreak and will cover all ITV regions.

Buster brand manager Louise Perry, said: “Buster is leading the way in helping consumers to tackle the individual needs of kitchen and bathroom plugholes with our four strong range of unblocker and treatment products. The TV adverts provide a strong, yet light hearted reminder of the importance of looking after our domestic plugholes to prevent drainage and odour problems occurring.

“As with previous years, we expect an upsurge in demand as the adverts air so it would be worth making sure shelves are fully stocked in anticipation.”

Buster segments the market

Buster is the only brand of plughole unblockers and treatments individually formulated for the differing needs of kitchens and bathrooms. Buster Kitchen Plughole Unblocker works by blasting food and fat waste out of kitchen drains whilst Buster Bathroom Plughole Unblocker dissolves hair and soap blockages in showers, baths and sinks.

The unblockers are complemented by two treatment products Buster Kitchen Plughole & Sink Treatment and Buster Bathroom Plughole & Sink Treatment, which kill germs and smells, remove stains and leave plugholes fresh. Buster Kitchen Plughole & Sink Treatment can also be used in dishwashers and waste disposal units.

Buster Professional

Buster is also offering price mark packs on all four 300gm products, clearing stating the £3 value. In addition, Buster Kitchen Plughole Unblocker, plus the two Plughole & Sink Treatments are available in 900gm packs; while Buster Bathroom Unblocker is sold in 900ml and 4.8 litre packs, all under the Buster Professional brand.

PR campaign for 2011

Alongside the TV advertising, Buster’s PR campaign for 2011 will focus on broadcast, print and online media; social media including blogs and Twitter; and the fifth anniversary of National Plughole Week, an annual fundraising campaign for Oxfam to help the 1.2 billion people worldwide who do not have access to clean, safe water.

Last year, Buster raised more than £22,000 for Oxfam during National Plughole Week through its Bottle for Change campaign which encouraged participants to save small change in specially branded water bottles.

Further fundraising came from a five pence donation on every bottle of Buster’s four plughole care products sold during June and July which carried striking neck collars with the message ‘Together we’ll help’. Major National Plughole Week partner Dyno-Rod, the drain and plumbing specialists, also provided a generous £10,000 donation to the campaign.

Buster is stocked in Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose, Wilkinson, Tesco, Morrisons, Robert Dyas, Makro, B&Q and independent hardware stores. For further information call Challs International on 0870 6030420 or visit www.plugholesneedlovetoo.com.
