Blakemore Foodservice Inspires Next Generation at East Midlands Trade Show

Blakemore Foodservice welcomed students from Midlands-based school, Glascote Academy, to discover more about healthy and nutritional food at its annual East Midlands trade show.

The event, which took place on the afternoon of 26^th September at the Walled Garden in Nottingham, was organised for free trade and local authority customers. A total of 30 suppliers set up stalls providing free food samples, product information, special deals and cook offs.

Pupils from Glascote Academy, which forms part of the Fierte Multi Academy Trust in Staffordshire, were also invited to attend the trade show in order to find out more about the company that delivers their school meals and the different food available.

The children tasted food samples from various suppliers and were invited to give feedback. Some of the food proved so popular with pupils that Fierte Multi Academy Trust Catering Lead Linda Smith put in an order on the day.

Linda commented: “It was great to give the children a chance to learn about healthy and nutritional food and also encourage them to try new things.

“They received valuable information to take back and share with their friends – it was really a great day out for them.

“I would like to say a big thank you to Blakemore Foodservice for the informative and tasty school trip. The children all thoroughly enjoyed it!”

Pupils were also treated to a Blakemore Foodservice goodie bag, which included further samples for them to take home and enjoy. They will now be following up this work in class to determine what their winter menus will include.

Blakemore Foodservice Business Development Manager Sam Turley, who helped organise the event, added: “The visit was a massive hit and the children really enjoyed themselves. It was also a great opportunity for suppliers to get some first-hand feedback from customers.

“We hope our customers enjoyed the event and the savings they could make from the supplier deals of the day.
