Your investment journey in Canada starts with Immediate Core

ashWhen Prankash Puntambekar (Ash) decided he would rebuild his convenience store in Fenstation Cambridgeshire he was adamant that it would be built with the environment in mind.

Together with his contracted electrician, Terry Wager, he contacted NET LED Lighting, who also happened to be based in Cambridgeshire to see what suggestions they had, and to discuss what the implications were for substituting energy efficient LED tubes for the conventional fluorescent tube.

Christopher Dawes, NET LED Lighting’s Sales Director, met with Ash and Terry to explain both the ecological and cost saving benefits relating to NET LED Tubes.

From an environmental point of view, LED tubes are made in such a way that they contain none of the harmful chemicals contained in fluorescent tubes  and as such are not controlled by the stringent health and safety regulations regarding disposal.  More importantly however in Ash’s mind was the fact that by using the 127 LED tubes he required, he would reduce his store’s annual carbon footprint by 10,674 kg CO2, when compared to the equivalent fluorescent tubes. This means a total life time saving, given the longer life span of the LED tube of 73,107 kg CO2.

Ash was also impressed with the comparative financial energy savings which on a store of his size would be in the region of £2,186 per annum, or £14,975 over the tubes’ lifetime.  Furthermore, the NET LED Tubes have a lifespan calculated to be six years given the proposed usage, which is three times that of fluorescents. So when the additional savings made in maintenance replacement costs that are involved in changing and disposing of fluorescent tubes are added to the financial energy savings, Ash should see an overall saving of £23,000, providing a five fold return on his initial investment!

Once sold on the environmental and financial benefits of using LED tubes, the next step was to decide the type of LED tube to be used. NET LED Tubes are available with Cool, Warm or Pure White colour temperatures.  As the tubes were to be used for conventional lighting, as well as backlighting for display areas, and on external signage for the shop, the decision was to go for Cool White so as to give the shop a cool crisp light.

Terry Wager said “it is a new concept for an electrician to fit LED lights rather than fluorescent tubes and being able to utilise conventional fittings it has made them very simple to install. The LED tubes are also less fragile as they are not made of glass, which makes them easier to work with. We were able to get NET LED Tubes in all the sizes we needed, from T5 to T10 and in a variety of lengths from 600mm through to 1800mm.”

Ash’s store which, back in April, was only a shell construction, opened on the 19th June 2009 and is recognised as one of the most energy efficient shops in the area.
