Thirteen intrepid Aldi employees have decided to slip on their trainers and take on the challenge of running the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, the official Charity of the Year for the iconic event.

The Aldi employees are thirteen of 700 #TeamLegend runners heading to the start line on Sunday 22 April 2018 to run in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. Aldi’s five-year partnership with the charity aims to raise £5 million to help them to fund more specialist nurses, so they can be there for every young person who needs them. Since the partnership launched in 2017, more than £1.2m has been raised by customers and staff, in stores up and down the country.

Callum Day, an Area Manager at Aldi who is running for the charity, said: “Training has been tough, but knowing that all the money raised will be going to such an incredible cause makes the early morning runs and countless blisters all worth it! Between us, we’re aiming to raise £22,000, we’ve done lots of fundraising help us reach our target.

“I’m sure I speak on behalf of all the Aldi Marathon runners when I say that we’re extremely proud to be running as part of #TeamLegend for Teenage Cancer Trust, it’s an incredible charity that helps to make sure that young people don’t face cancer alone. We’re all very much looking forward to crossing that finish line!”

About Teenage Cancer Trust

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity that provides the specialised nursing and emotional support that young people with cancer aged 13-24 so desperately need.
Our world-leading nursing care helps young people and their families deal with the many ways cancer affects your body, mind and life.

We bring young people together to support each other so they feel less scared and alone. Our Education and Awareness programme helps students in schools across the country to make positive decisions about their health, and we influence the Government and policy makers to improve services for young people with cancer.

Every young person with cancer should have access to this kind of care, but we simply do not have enough nurses. Right now, we can only reach half of those who need us, so we need the help of our supporters to fund more world-leading nursing care. Find out how you can get involved at www.teenagecancertrust.org.
