Following two consecutive years of significant growth, luxury ice cream brand Häagen-Dazs is now expanding into new territory. For the first time ever, the brand has launched a range of lower calorie ice creams, ideal for shoppers looking for a lighter option. Available now, the new Gelato Collection includes two delicious minicup flavours:

  • Caramel Swirl is the perfect blend of creamy vanilla and sweet caramel
  • Chocolate Drizzle combines rich chocolate with deliciously dark chocolate sauce

Typically, there are two areas that ice cream falls into – regular ice cream or low calorie. Now Häagen-Dazs has created an offer that sits between the two.

Unlike other reduced calorie ice creams on the market, Häagen-Dazs Gelato has a lower air content, which results in a richer, creamier and more velvety experience for consumers. Just like the rest of the Häagen-Dazs range, it’s made with the finest ingredients and is free from stabilisers, emulsifiers, artificial flavours and colourings.

Kat Jones, Marketing Manager at Häagen-Dazs UK, says: “The Gelato Collection is our biggest launch this year and we’re really excited about it! At Häagen-Dazs, we live for the moment of indulgence and there’s a big demand for luxury ice cream, but sometimes consumers wish life’s temptations were just a little lighter.

“The new flavours come in a minicup format with 150 calories per pack, plus there’s 30% less sugar and 50% less fat than regular ice cream, making it the perfect permissible treat. We developed the range with traditional Italian Gelaterias in mind and the end result tastes just as indulgent – but with fewer calories.”

The launch is timely, not only for Valentine’s Day, but as sugar remains in the spotlight, consumers are increasingly looking for lower sugar, lower calorie treats.

“We’re expecting the Gelato collection to attract new shoppers to the ice cream category, especially in the minicups format, as it’s perfect for on the go or after dinner as a sweet treat,” adds Jones.

The range is available in all major retailers (RRP: £4.99).
