July saw the arrival of over 100,000 Organic bananas from Ecuador as premium fresh fruit producer BanaBay expands its product range into the UK.
The addition of Organic bananas to their tropical fruit portfolio is part of the BanaBay success story, started less than two years ago with a single container shipment of Cavendish bananas into the UK, which has now progressed to more than 50 containers to an average of 10 countries worldwide.
BanaBay’s ethically operated farms in Ecuador have been a family-owned source of production for more than 30 years, and with the introduction of the Soil Association Certified plantations, are able to farm without the use of chemicals, pesticides and crown protection.
The introduction to the UK of the premium quality and ethically produced Organic bananas was described by Business Development Manager Harley Williams as an opportunity for forward growth and success across the entire BanaBay range: “Having investigated the market for Organic bananas at Fruit Logistica in Berlin earlier this year, we felt the time was right for us to add to the range of produce we supply into the UK, where there is a real appetite for organic produce. Once we have bedded in the new line, we expect other countries in Europe to follow suit.”
The Cavendish variety Organic bananas are the latest range extension for the fresh fruit importer which also saw the addition of pineapples in the spring.
