The in-line application works with a range of film based packaging solutions, including pouches, sacks, pillow packs, flow-wraps and quad-stabilo packs, giving consumers the ability to reseal the pack for the lifetime of its contents, with approximately 20 effective resealing actions.

Packaging providers can be assured that the tape dispensers can be integrated into packaging lines within a day, without reducing packaging line speed.

The company is now developing packaging solutions for manufacturers and retailers in the UK, Europe, Russia and Japan, delivering competitive edge through the consumer benefits of enjoying fresh food even across extended periods of use and storage.

Peter Spencer, tesa’s Specialist Segment Manager, Manufacturing, comments “Packaging and resealing solutions are key to winning and retaining customers of convenience food products. With factors such as quality, freshness through a product’s ‘life’, accessibility and ease of use influencing the purchasing decision, it’s easy to see why innovation in this area is so important.”

A provider of high quality snacks is the latest brand owner to adopt tesa’s Lift & Reseal system.

The challenges were two-fold – firstly, the ability to provide a large, multi-opening / closing pack was complex and secondly, once opened ensuring the products were to very high quality standards.

The company considered supplying POS items (bag clips, empty tubs) but these weren’t suited to the fast pace of restaurant kitchens and on-cost was prohibitive. The popular catering tub formats were also dismissed due to their high wastage and inconvenience for confined kitchen spaces.

The company focused its attention instead on resealable tabs and this, in turn, led them to tesa’s efficient in-line application.

There were clear advantages to using this type of technology. tesa provided a bespoke branded solution, and as well as working with standard packs, no modifications to machinery or interference was required, allowing application within the factory rather than outsourcing to a third-party packer.

A company spokesperson comments, “The quality and strength of tesa’s system also allows for multiple use and the ability for caterers to reseal the pack with fresh adhesive as the volume in the pack decreases. When combined with gas-flushed technology, freshness and flavour of our products are effectively locked into the packet, allowing us to maintain the quality and giving caterers the reassurance to deliver the nation’s tastiest snacks to their customers in perfect condition every time.”

For providers of packaged goods, the availability of dispensers offers the final element of production efficiency that completes the picture. tesa systems are now the definitive reclosure tape engineering solution for the industry.
